What is EBITDA?

Typically when companies begin to grow and they are seeking private equity or growth capital, the term EBITDA emerges more frequently.  It is an indicator of a company's financial performance which is calculated in the following calculation: 

Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA)
